30 Day Poetry Challenge Day Six: Astrology

Posted by

Welcome, weebs and authors alike, to The Aniwriter.

For day six of the 30 Day Poetry Challenge, here is a poem titled: Astrology.

It is funny to me how some will treat the stars as.
They will look upon them for knowledge,
treat their alignment as divine will,
and always remove responsibility from themselves.
“Sorry, I’m a Scorpio,” they say as they create problems.
“Virgo’s be like:” they’ll write in their Facebook posts.
Well, I hate to break it to those people, but that’s not how this works.
Sure, there are many things that remain out of an individuals control,
like systemic racism or the slow, painful death of our planet,
but pretending like we are slaves to the position of foreign balls of gas
while laughing at those who tell gay people they’re going to hell
is exactly the problem.

How do you guys feel about this poem? Let me know in the comments below. Also, if you want to support the Aniwriter through donations or are just feeling generous, consider buying me a coffee on Ko-fi or using my Affiliate link to buy stuff:

  1. i like to think that things like “systemic racism or the slow, painful death of our planet” are things we can change and control if people rallied together. i think it would take a long time but i don’t think it’s out of our control (just look at our progress so far and there are even new people being put into political roles: women, women of color, and i THINK with different sexuality). I’m also assuming you mean the death of earth via environmental issues vs. everything that is alive must one day die type of thing

also idk if this was intentional but your first sentence kind of ends abruptly? with “as” and then starting a new thought. i just fumbled a bit and figured i’d let you know in case

    nice poems so far 🙂
