Defining a Glass House

Posted by

Welcome, weebs and authors alike, to The Aniwriter.

I’m trying to get back on a more consistent writing schedule, but my lack of sleep combined with more immediate concerns like work and school have made that a bit harder. Until then, here is something I cooked up while sitting at my computer. Enjoy

Hypocrisy is often defined as throwing stones in a glass,
for fear of shattering your own illusion.
However, this does not make a lot of sense given the metaphor.
Living in a glass house would mean seeing a thousand yous reflected
around every corner, always a reminder of your failings.
A stone through a glass house would mean shattering the illusion
that there is nothing wrong, and that somehow life in which we
do not acknowledge our problems means levity from them.

It makes much more sense to think of the glass house metaphor as
the definition of what it means to be human.
It is the constant recognition that we are all fragile in our own way and
that all it takes to bring us down is something a fraction of our size.
