A House Doesn’t Burn Down by Itself

Posted by

Welcome, weebs and authors alike, to The Aniwriter.

Well, here we are again. Another original poem by yours truly. Enjoy!

When lightning strikes an open field,
with none privy to its magic,
and it starts a fire that burns for days,
a fire that fights water with more fire,
Most would call that a tragedy.
I would call it neglect.
When a house exists,
and is caught in said fire,
along with thousands of others,
burning to the ground,
leaving nothing but an ashen pile,
Most would call it devastating.
I would call it inevitable.

The funny thing about living on earth
is that we often take without giving back.
Greed and the drive for profit and cheap products
has caused a rapid decay, of which we will soon face the consequences.
We don’t blame the mother of a dead son for wanting revenge on the man who shot him.
So, it makes sense that the world would rather see us burn for a change.
